Empowering Young Girls: Women Health Awareness Workshop at Gajik Junior College, HYD

On September 21st, 2024, Jagathi Foundation in collaboration with Care Hospitals, had conducted a Women Health Awareness Workshop at Gatik Junior College, Bodhi Tree Campus, Hyderabad. This event brought together over 220 enthusiastic participants, including students and faculty, to engage in a meaningful discussion about women’s health, menstrual hygiene, and cervical cancer.

The event featured an informative session by our expert speaker Dr. Priyanka Chakravarthy, a renowned gynecologist from Care Hospitals.

A Comprehensive Approach to Women’s Health

Understanding the significance of women’s health in today’s world, our workshop aimed to equip young girls and women with essential knowledge and practical tools for better health management. 

Key Topics Covered

  1. Overall Women’s Health: The workshop began with an overview of women’s health, highlighting the importance of regular health check-ups, a balanced diet, and physical activity. Our speakers emphasized how holistic health contributes to overall well-being, encouraging students to prioritize their health and seek professional advice when needed.
  2. Menstrual Hygiene Management: As part of the session focused on menstrual hygiene, a topic often shrouded in stigma and misinformation. We discussed the significance of maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation, including the safe use and disposal of menstrual products. 
  3. Cervical Cancer Awareness: A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to cervical cancer awareness, shared insights into the causes, risk factors, and preventive measures associated with cervical cancer. The discussion included the importance of the HPV vaccine and regular screenings. The students were encouraged to advocate for their health and seek regular check-ups.

Interactive Discussions and Engagement

Throughout the workshop, participants were encouraged to engage in discussions, ask questions, and share their experiences. The interactive format fostered a supportive environment, enabling students to express their concerns and learn from one another.

The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Many students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn about topics that directly affect their lives. They left the workshop feeling empowered and informed.
